Concrete Decor

When pouring concrete decor pieces, first a mold is prepared ensuring a mold release agent is used to release the concrete. In cases of larger pieces a reinforcing wire mesh may be added. If a plaque is intended to be hung, a wire loop may be inserted into the mold cavity.
Slowly add water to the concrete mix until it's the consistency similar to pancake mix. Colorants can also be added at this step.
The concrete mix is then carefully poured into the mold, first just to cover the design ensuring it fills all the crevices.
The process of removing all air bubbles is done before pouring the remaining mix. The mold will sit for two days for curing. Once completely cured the piece is removed from the mold and the painting will begin.
